Prof. Mingchuan Zhang, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China
Prof. Ming-Chuan Zhang was born in Xinjin County, Sichuan Province, China, in 1944. He graduated from Northeast Dianli University, China in 1965, and made his further study from 1981 to 1983 at MIT, USA. He received his Ph. D. degree from Tsinghua University, China, in 1991. He has worked with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, as a Full Professor since 1994. He has been Academic member of the State-key Laboratory on Coal Combustion at Hua Zhong University of Sci. & Tech. since 1991, and used to be Academic member of other three State-key Laboratories in the areas of clean combustion, energy utilization and fire safety. He is also editorial member of several Chinese journals, e.g. Proceedings of The CSEE, Combustion Science and Technology, Boiler Technology.
His research interests are the reaction kinetics in pyrolysis and combustion of coal, the gas-solid two-phase flow and fluidization engineering, the computational combustion and numerical simulation of furnace process, the emission control from coal combustion, and the atomization and spray. He has received 2 National Science and Technology Achievement Awards, and other 9 Science and Technology Awards of Ministry or Province level, and got the honor of Government Special Subsidy in 1993.
